Northern Arizona started the year off on a 3-2 run, but they’ve only been able to win consecutive games once since then. The Lumberjacks are currently riding a seven-game losing streak, falling most recently to Idaho.
In the Saturday game versus Idaho, the Lumberjacks were only down by one point at halftime. Northern Arizona was outscored 36-44 in the second half on the way to a 78-69 loss, though. Jalen Cone led the team on 35 points and nine boards.
Over on the Eastern Washington side, they’ve had quite the choppy season as they struggle to stay above .500 in the record column. The Eagles are 3-1 in their last three games with victories over Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona and Portland State.
Matched up against Portland State on Saturday, the Eagles were up by three points by halftime. Eastern Washington his a 44-39 run in the second on the way to an 83-75 win. both Linton Acliese (27 points; 11 boards) and Angelo Allegri (27 points; 13 rebounds) doubled up.
The Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last four neutral-site games and 0-4 ATS in the last four after an ATS win. Eastern Washington is 27-13 ATS in their last 40 overall.
Meanwhile, the Lumberjacks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. The under is 27-10 in Eastern Washington’s last 37 neutral-site games.
PICK: I’m going to try Eastern Washington here. The Eagles are doing fairly well over their last eight games; they’ve hit a 6-2 run in that time and have hit 69 or more points in each outing as well. Eastern Washington also won both matchups between these teams this year: 78-65 and 69-62.
The Eagles have been on a solid scoring run lately, and I think they’ll be able to cross the 70-point mark here. Should be an interesting matchup, but Eastern Washington looks to be in control.
