East Tennessee State vs Wofford Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/1/23

The Wofford Terriers and the East Tennessee State Buccaneers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Freedom Hall Civic Center. Wofford is 13-10 overall this year. The Terriers beat Samford in their last game. As for East Tennessee State, they’re 12-11 and coming off a loss to Chattanooga. Wofford Terriers

Wofford went 9-7 to start out the year, losing to High Point, Drake, LSU, Vanderbilt, GA Southern, East Tennessee State and UNCG in that time. The Terriers are 4-3 since then with losses to Samford, WCU and Furman. 

In the Samford rematch back on Saturday, Wofford posted a 48-32 run in the first half. The Terriers were outscored 45-37 from there but held on for the 85-77 win. Jackson Paveletzke was tops in scoring with 21 points and three assists. 

East Tennessee State Buccaneers

Over on the East Tennessee State side, they beat only Emory & Henry, Elon, Little Rock, Mars Hill, Wofford and VMI in their first 16 games. The Buccaneers have gone 2-5 in their last seven with wins over the Citadel and Chattanooga. 

In the rematch with Chattanooga on Saturday, the Buccaneers trailed by one point at halftime. East Tennessee State was outpaced 40-32 in the second half and lost 73-64. Jalen Haynes topped the team on 16 points with four rebounds.

I’m going to stick with Wofford. The Terriers are on a nice scoring run over the last five games. They’ve hit 71 or more points in each of those, and 82 or more in four of them. Wofford took a tough loss at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium the last time these teams met up, falling 73-71 after a three-point halftime lead. I like Wofford to bounce back and get some revenge here. East Tennessee State has posted 67 or fewer points in four of their last five games, so on paper the Terriers should be able to control the tempo.
