Georgetown Hoyas
The Hoyas haven’t had a victory in a while—January 6 (versus DePaul) in fact, when Georgetown was 8-7 on the year. It’s been losses to Seton Hall (twice), UConn (twice), Xavier, Butler, Providence, Marquette, Creighton, Villanova and St. John’s in the 11 games since.
Back on Wednesday versus St. John’s, the Hoyas faced a seven-point deficit going into the second half. Georgetown got better from there on a 53-51 run but still lost 90-85. Jayden Epps was the team’s leading scorer with his 31 points, seven assists and two steals.
DePaul Blue Demons
Over on the Blue Demons’ side, their last victory came on December 30. DePaul has fallen to UConn, Georgetown, Creighton, Villanova, Providence, Butler, Marquette, Creighton, Seton Hall, Xavier, St. John’s, UConn, Providence and Marquette in succession since then.
In their last matchup Wednesday versus Marquette, the Blue Demons were drilled 59-29 in the first half alone. DePaul limped to a 105-71 blowout loss with a 46-42 run the rest of the way. Elijah Fisher and Jaden Henley each scored a team-high 19 points with nine combined rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE GEORGETOWN VS DEPAUL PREDICTION
I’ll lean toward Georgetown here. Granted, there’s not a lot to get excited about in this one, though. The Hoyas didn’t play too badly on offense in their latest loss to St. John’s, shooting 47 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range. Georgetown gave up a whopping 57.6 percent from the field on the other side, though. That makes 70 or more points in three of the last five games for the Hoyas, which is a positive sign—however minor.
Georgetown posted a 68-65 home win the last time these teams met up back on January 6. Both teams shot pretty well in that one, and Georgetown posted a 35-28 rebounding edge. I like the Hoyas to rally in the road rematch and cover, but I’m probably not touching this one.
