Davidson Wildcats

The Wildcats managed a 13-9 run in their first 22 games this year, falling to Clemson, ETSU, Saint Mary’s, Dayton, Rhode Island, George Washington, Richmond, VCU and Loyola. Davidson is 3-3 since then with losses to George Mason, St. Bonaventure and Richmond in that time.

Matched up against Richmond in their last outing, the Wildcats came out of the break with a 31-28 deficit. Davidson got better from there with 35 points but still ended up falling 66-63 in the end. Lead scorer Reed Bailey put up 23 points with 11 rebounds in the losing effort.

Dayton Flyers

Over on the Dayton side, they only lost three of their first 22 games this year on a great opening run. Those losses came versus Northwestern, Houston and Richmond. The Flyers are 2-2 in their last four with losses to VCU and George Mason around wins versus Duquesne and Fordham.

On Wednesday versus George Mason, Dayton held a 33-27 edge by halftime. The Flyers were outscored 44-34 in the second half and ended up losing 71-67. DaRon Holmes was the only double-digit scorer on the team with 26 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the defeat.

ANDREW’S FREE DAVIDSON VS DAYTON PREDICTION

I’ll stick with Dayton. The Flyers need a good bounce-back effort after a tepid outing versus George Mason, though. Dayton shot just 41.1 percent from the field in that one and got outmuscled on the boards 33-27. The Flyers have been below 68 points in two of the last four games now.

These teams last met up back on January 3 in a 72-59 road win for Dayton. The Flyers didn’t have a lot of issues in that one, shooting 50 percent from the field with 36 rebounds. This home rematch should be a solid opportunity for Dayton to reassert themselves on the scoreboard and I think they’ll take advantage.
