The Northeastern Huskies and the Davidson Wildcats meet in college basketball action from the Belk Arena on Tuesday night.
The Northeastern Huskies will look to bounce back from an 81-73 loss to UIC last time out. Jahmyl Telfort leads the Huskies in scoring and assists with 15.6 PPG and 2.5 APG as the lone double-digit scorer for Northeastern up to this point in the season. Joe Pridgen has 8.5 PPG while Alexander Nwagha has a team-high 6.5 RPG to lead the Huskies on the glass up to this point in the season. As a team, Northeastern is averaging 62.9 PPG on 40% shooting from the field, 30.1% from behind the arc and 60.4% from the foul line this season.
The Davidson Wildcats will look to bounce back from a 69-61 loss to Purdue in their last game. Foster Loyer leads the Wildcats in scoring and assists with 18.7 PPG and 5.9 APG in addition to 4.8 RPG while Sam Mennenga has 16.4 PPG and a team-high 6.8 RPG to lead Davidson in rebounding as the only other double-digit scorer for Davidson up to this point in the season. Connor Kochera has 8.9 PPG as well on the year. As a team, Davidson is averaging 74.5 PPG on 46% shooting from the field, 35.3% from three and 72.5% from the foul line up to this point in the year.
Northeastern is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games against a team with a winning home record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record. Davidson is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a loss while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall.
I get the case to be made for either side in this game, but I’m going to side with Davidson here. Northeastern’s gone 0-5 SU and 0-5 ATS on the road this season, and against the better teams on their schedule, the Huskies have had major issues with trying to keep pace. Davidson’s a better team than a lot of their recent results would indicate and I think they take it to a Northeastern team that just can’t seem to figure out their issues away from home. Give me the Wildcats.
