The Sacramento State Hornets and the Cal State Fullerton Titans meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Titan Gym. Sacramento State is 6-5 overall this year. The Hornets beat Fresno State in their last outing. As for CSU Fullerton, they’re 5-6 and fresh off a win over San Diego Christian. Sacramento State managed to go 3-3 in their first half-dozen outings this year, beating UC San Diego, Denver and UC Merced. It’s been a 3-2 run since then with wins over Denver, Long Beach State and Fresno State.
On Saturday versus Fresno State, the Hornets carved out a one-point lead by the break. Sac State hit a 35-30 run in the second half and won 59-53. Callum McRae led the way on 21 points with six rebounds.
Over on the Cal State Fullerton side, they were 4-2 after six games this year, losing to San Diego State and Utah Tech. The Titans would then continue their losing streak to North Dakota, Seattle, USC and Southern Utah.
CSU Fullerton finally got another win on Monday versus San Diego Christian. The Titans scored 44 points in the first half and 43 more from there in an 87-35 blowout. Latrell Wrightsell led the team on 20 points.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Sacramento State. The Hornets are sitting on a three-game win streak right now, and though they didn’t exactly light up the scoreboard in their last game against Fresno State, Sac State got the job done. The Hornets have posted some decent points totals this year, and they’ve hit 76 or more points in three of the last five. As for CSU Fullerton, they scored 62 or fewer points in all five games of their recent losing streak. The Titans are coming off an easy blowout win; this one will be much tougher.
