Long Beach State Beach

Long Beach State managed a 7-9 run over their first 16, beating Cal Baptist, St. Katherine, Oakland, Vermont, Life Pacific, Idaho and CSUN. The Beach are 5-1 in their last six with a lone loss to Hawaii in that span.

Back on Saturday versus UC Davis, Long Beach State nursed a 38-37 lead by the break. The Beach hit 37 more points in the second half and won it 75-72. Marcus Tsohonis scored 21 points, and Lassina Traore doubled on 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Cal State Fullerton Titans

Over on the Cal State Fullerton side, they lost to SDSU, Utah Tech, North Dakota, Seattle, USC, Southern Utah and UCSB in their first 16 outings. The Titans have since gone 3-4 with wins over CSUB, Ur Irvine and Cal Poly.

Matched up against Cal Poly on Saturday, the Titans were up 37-16 going into the second half. CSU Fullerton cruised on 28 more points from there and won it 65-36. Max Jones was the leading scorer with 16 points and five rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll try Long Beach State in this one. You could make a case either way, though; it should be a fun matchup. The Beach are on a solid 6-2 stretch right now, scoring 70 or more points in all eight of those outings. Long Beach State managed a 72-67 win the last time these teams met up back on January 19 at Walter Pyramid as well. LBSU was pretty steady for the whole game in that one, scoring 40 points in the first half alone. I like this one to be a competitive matchup, and I think the Titans will push the Beach for most of the game. I’m leaning slightly toward LBSU on a cover (and maybe a win), though.
