Stetson won three straight games to kick off the season, then lost to Niagara and Campbell in consecutive outings. Since then it’s been a win over Johnson University (FL), a loss to Florida and a win over Webber International.
In the Webber International matchup back on Saturday, Stetson jumped out to a 42-24 edge by halftime. The Hatters scored another 41 points in the second during an 83-59 blowout. Wheza Panzo led the team on 30 points with two boards.
Over on the Charleston side, the lost to North Carolina in game two. Otherwise it’s been wins over Chattanooga, Richmond, Davidson, Colorado State, Virginia Tech, Kent State, Old Dominion, the Citadel, Presbyterian and North Greenville.
In Sunday’s matchup versus North Greenville, the Cougars were up 49-25 by the break. Charleston posted 47 more points in the second during a 96-67 blowout. Dalton Bolon led the team on 22 points, while both Ben Burnham and Reyne Smith added 17 points apiece.
PICK: I’ll probably stay with Charleston here. The Cougars have been on a tear for the whole season—and fought their way through a couple of close calls. Charleston has also scored quite well; they’ve hit 67 or more points in every game so far, and 74 or more in 10 of 11 outings. As for Stetson, they’re coming off a nice bounce-back win over Weber International. The Hatters have been scoring well lately themselves with 83 or more in three of their last four. That said I don’t think they’ll keep the pace with Charleston.
