The Wagner Seahawks and the Bryant Bulldogs meet Tuesday in Northeast Conference Tournament action from Chace Athletic Center. Wagner is sitting at 21-5 overall this year. They’re coming off a win over LIU. As for Bryant, they’re currently 21-9 and beat Mount St. Mary’s in their last game. The Seahawks have remained a very consistent team this season; they’ve only got one instance of consecutive losses. Since falling to Fairleigh Dickinson and Bryant, the Seahawks have bounced back with wins over St. Francis PA and Long Island University.
Matched up against LIU on Saturday, the Seahawks jumped out to a 47-31 halftime lead. Wagner posted a 35-31 edge in the second on the way to an 82-62 victory. Alex Morales led the team on his 19 points and seven rebounds.
Over on the Bryant side, they started the year out on a shaky 6-8 run but lately they’ve been great in the conference matchups. The Bulldogs are on a six-game win streak right now, beating Central CT State (twice), Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Francis BK, Wagner and Mount St. Mary’s.
On Saturday versus Mount St. Mary’s, the Bulldogs were up by three points at halftime. Bryant had to hold on during a 33-35 second half but managed to win 70-69. Charles Pride was the lead scorer on his 24 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. Bryant is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 overall.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine after a straight-up win. The over is 5-2 in Wagner’s last seven road games.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Wagner here. The Seahawks have been putting up some solid points totals lately, with 70 or more in six straight games. They’re a tepid 4-3 in their last seven games, though. Wagner took an 84-81 overtime win the first time these teams met up back on January 6, but lost in the rematch 78-70 on February 26. This one’s looking like another tight, high-total affair, and I like Wagner to get in there on a cover.
