Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss was 8-6 over their first 14 games this year, losing to Oklahoma, Memphis, UCF, North Alabama, Tennessee and Alabama. The Rebels went 1-3 over the next four games with losses to Mississippi State, Auburn and Georgia.
On Tuesday versus South Carolina, Ole Miss posted a 30-20 edge going into the second half. The Rebels kept the pace up on a 40-38 run from there and won 70-58. Matthew Murrell led the team on 23 points with nine rebounds.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Over on the Arkansas side, they hit a 12-2 run to start out the year, losing to only Creighton and LSU in that time. The Razorbacks would then fall in consecutive games to Auburn, Alabama and Vanderbilt.
In the Wednesday matchup versus Missouri, Arkansas took a one-point lead into the second half. The Razorbacks couldn’t keep up however and ended up falling 79-76. Davonte Davis put up 18 points with nine rebounds to lead the way.
PICK: I might take a stab on Ole Miss here. The Rebels did a pretty good job against a struggling South Carolina team in their last outing, shooting 46 percent from the floor with a 43-31 rebounding advantage. Ole Miss has been pretty choppy on the scoreboard recently with 65 or fewer points in seven of their last nine outings. Even considering how inconsistent the Razorbacks have been lately, it’s going to take a big effort from the Rebels to keep pace in this one. I think Ole Miss can do it.
