Albany lost to Towson in their first game of the year, then got a win over Immaculata before another loss to Siena. The Danes bookended wins over Union NY and Presbyterian around losses to Saint Joseph’s and Austin Peay in the next four.
On Saturday versus Florida Atlantic, the Danes were outscored 38-26 at the break. Albany trailed 35-30 in the second half for a 73-56 loss. Tops in scoring was Sarju Patel with 23 points and four rebounds in 33 minutes.
Over on the American side, they lost their first two games versus Marist and George Mason. The Eagles have since hit a winning streak; they took out William & Mary, NJIT and Georgetown in the next three.
American kept their streak going on Saturday versus St. Francis PA. The Eagles trailed 26-24 going into the second half but stormed back with 42 more points in a 66-55 win. Matthew Rogers doubled up on 16 points and 10 rebounds.
PICK: I’m probably staying with American. The Eagles are on a nice run over their last four games and they’ve held opponents to 64 or fewer points in three of them. (Georgetown scored 70 in the outlier.) American has only hit 70 or more points in two of six games, but the defense is keeping them competitive. As for Albany, they’ve been below 60 points in two of their last three games. If the Danes shoot cold in this one I don’t think they’ll keep up.
