The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Miami Hurricanes meet Saturday in college basketball action from BankUnited Center. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The Yellow Jackets haven’t been able to win consecutive games since late December, and they’ve won just two of their last 10 games. The losses during that 2-8 stretch have come versus Virginia, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, NC State, Wake Forest, Louisville, Notre Dame and Clemson.
In the Clemson matchup on Wednesday, the Yellow Jackets went into the break with a 43-31 deficit. Georgia Tech didn’t get any closer on a 38-26 second half and took the loss 81-57. Kyle Sturdivant was the team’s leading scorer on 14 bench points and two rebounds.
Miami Hurricanes
Over on the Hurricanes’ side, they fell to Kentucky, Colorado, Wake Forest, Louisville, Florida State, Syracuse and NC State in their first 22 outings. Since then it’s been a string of losses to Virginia, North Carolina, Clemson, Boston College and Duke over the last five outings.
On Wednesday versus Duke in their latest defeat, the Hurricanes were overmatched. Miami was down 40-23 by halftime and limped to an 84-55 blowout loss on a 44-32 run from there. Lead scorers Wooga Poplar and Bensley Joseph each posted 15 points with a combined four rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE GEORGIA TECH VS MIAMI PREDICTION
I’ll take a stab on Georgia Tech. Probably not touching this one, though. Both teams are struggling right now after some tough losses. The Yellow Jackets didn’t make much of an impact versus Clemson, shooting just 30.2 percent fro the field. Georgia Tech did win the rebounding battle 34-31 however, and shot a nice 19-of-21 (90.5 percent) from the line. The Jackets really need to get their offense going here; they’ve been below 68 points in five straight games.
As for Miami, they’ve been sporadic on the scoreboard as well with 60 or fewer points in three of the last four outings. This should be a more evenly-matched game though, and I like a high total here if Georgia Tech can get their offense going.
