The Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds meet Saturday in MLB action from Great American Ball Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. In the Friday opener, the White Sox took a close victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Chicago White Sox

The Sox played the Twins this week and managed two wins in three games. On Friday versus the Reds Chicago came back from a 3-0 deficit to power out the 5-4 win. Lance Lynn put up 6.2 innings with four earned on eight hits alongside eight Ks.

For the starter job in the Saturday game two, the Sox will send out Mike Clevinger. In his six starts this year Clevinger is 2-2 with a 4.60 ERA and 26 Ks in 29.1 innings. Clevinger is 53-32 with a 3.44 career ERA in 134 games (120 starts).

Cincinnati Reds

Over on the Reds’ side, they took on the Padres in their last series and won just one of three games. On Friday Cincinnati out-hit the White Sox 8-7 in the loss. Starter Hunter Greene logged 5.2 innings, five earned, seven hits and a walk.

It’ll be Nick Lodolo in the start for the Reds on Saturday. Over his six starts this year Lodolo is 2-1 with a 6.16 ERA and 44 strikeouts over 30.2 innings. Lodolo is 6-8 with a 4.23 ERA in 25 career starts.

The White Sox are 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games and 7-19 in their last 26 overall. Chicago is 2-6 in their last eight versus a lefty starter.

Meanwhile, the Reds are 3-7 in their last 10 Saturday games and 21-46 in their last 67 in game two of a series. The under is 5-1 in Cincinnati’s last six Saturday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stick with the Sox in this one. I could probably go either way here, though; depends on how the starters fare. Clevinger is coming off a solid outing versus the Rays (5.0 innings; two earned) but he had nine earned over his previous 8.0 innings. As for Lodolo, he posted 5.0 innings with three earned in Oakland his last time up, but he had 14 earned in his prior 8.2 frames. On Friday Chicago got into an early hole but then received a nice bullpen performance and a good evening from Luis Robert to even things out. Only four different Sox players had hits though, so they’ll likely need a better all-around effort with the bats in game two.
