The Utah Utes and the Colorado Buffaloes meet Saturday in college basketball action from Coors Events Center. Utah is 17-13 overall this year. The Utes are coming off a loss to USC last weekend. As for Colorado, they’re sitting at 15-15 on the season following a loss to UCLA. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Utah Utes
Utah posted a 15-7 run over their first 22 outings this year. The Utes are just 2-6 in their last eight games however, falling to Oregon, Stanford, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA and USC with wins over California and Colorado otherwise.
In the USC matchup last Saturday, the Utes fell behind 34-28 by halftime. Utah was outscored 28-21 from there and lost 62-49. Leading team scorer Marco Anthony had 11 points and Branden Carlson doubled on 10 points with 10 rebounds.
Colorado Buffaloes
Over on the Colorado side, they were 12-10 by the 22-game mark this season. The Buffaloes have since gone 3-5 with losses to Oregon State, Utah, Arizona, USC and UCLA mixed with wins over California, Stanford and Arizona State otherwise.
On Sunday in the UCLA game, the Buffaloes took a 30-28 edge into the second half. Colorado managed a 32-26 deficit from there and lost 60-56. Luke O’Brien doubled up on 13 points and 10 rebounds while Tristan da Silva added 13 points with nine boards.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’m going to take a stab on Colorado in this one. The Buffaloes are an ugly 1-3 in their last four outings, but they were able to hang around with a very good UCLA team in their Sunday game. Colorado hasn’t scored more than 67 points in any of their last five appearances however, so they’ll need to get off to a good start in this one. These teams last met up on February 11 at Jon M. Huntsman Center. Utah ended up with a 73-62 victory in that one after jumping ahead 38-32 by halftime. I like Colorado to step it up at home and play better basketball in a cover during the rematch.
