Jackson State Tigers
Jackson State limped through their first 22 games this year, posting a 6-16 record in that time. The Tigers are 5-2 since then however, taking out AR-Pine Bluff, Florida A&M, Bethune-Cookman, Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M in that time.
In the Prairie View A&M matchup back on Monday, the Tigers held a slim 24-23 edge by the break. Jackson State hit a 37-34 run in the second half on the way to a 61-57 win. Coltie Young doubled on 14 points and 11 boards, and Romelle Mansel added 14 points as well.

In the MS Valley State game on Saturday, the Golden Lions trailed 36-34 in the locker room. AR-Pine Bluff didn’t get any closer on a 42-40 second half and lost 78-74. Chris Greene led the team on 25 points with seven rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably stick with Jackson State here. Also probably not going near it, though. These teams are on opposite trajectories right now. Jackson State has won five of their last six outings, scoring 69 or more points in four of those games. As for the Golden Lions, they’re on a seven-game losing streak despite scoring 67 or more points in six of those. Jackson State took an 88-84 win at home the last time these teams met up back on February 6. I like the Tigers enough for a cover/win here, but I’m not touching it. There are a lot of different ways this one could play out.
