Charlotte’s year began on a 13-9 run through their first 22 outings. The 49ers are 5-2 in their last seven games, taking wins over UTEP, Western Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, North Texas and Rice during that time.
In the Rice matchup back on Saturday, the 49ers were up 32-21 going into the second half. Charlotte hit a 38-33 edge from there and won the game 70-54. Leading team scorer Brice Williams doubled on 25 points and 13 rebounds.
UTSA Roadrunners
Over on the UTSA side, they went a rough 7-15 in their first 22 games this year. The Roadrunners are just 2-6 in their last eight with losses to Louisiana Tech, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, UTEP, UAB and Florida Atlantic.
Back on Saturday versus FIU, the Roadrunners faced a 56-42 deficit going into the second half. UTSA hit a 53-35 advantage in the second and took the comeback win 95-91. John Buggs scored 18 points and Jacob Germany doubled on 16 points and 18 rebounds.

I’ll stay with Charlotte in this one. The 49ers didn’t have too many issues with a decent Rice team during their last outing and they’re now on a four-game win streak. These teams last met back on January 14 at Halton Arena. Charlotte posted a 34-22 first half in that one and ended up with the win 72-54. UTSA is scoring well over this 2-2 run with 78 or more points in three of those four, but I don’t think they’ll stay in range of Charlotte if the 49ers play to their capabilities.
