The Wright State Raiders and the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons meet Sunday in college basketball action from Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Wright State is sitting at 16-12 so far. The Raiders lost to Cleveland State in their last game. As for Fort Wayne, they’re 15-13 following a Friday loss to Northern Kentucky. Wright State Raiders
Wright State hit an up-and-down 11-9 run over their first 20 games of the year. The Raiders are 5-3 in the last eight with wins over Milwaukee, Green Bay, Robert Morris, IUPUI and Northern Kentucky. The losses came to Cleveland State (twice) and Youngstown State.
In the Cleveland State rematch on Friday, the Raiders went into halftime with a 41-36 deficit. Wright State couldn’t get any closer in the end during an 85-68 defeat. Trey Calvin was the leading team scorer on 25 points.
Fort Wayne Mastodons
Over on the Fort Wayne side, they opened up the year on a 13-7 run through 20 games. The Mastodons are 2-5 in their last seven, taking losses along the way to Northern Kentucky, Cleveland State, Detroit, Youngstown State, Robert Morris and Northern Kentucky again.
In the rematch versus the Norse on Friday, the Mastodons were down 28-24 in the locker room. After a 35-26 deficit from there Fort Wayne lost 35-26. Jarred Godfrey topped the team on 14 point and five rebounds.

I’ll probably stay with Wright State in this one. You could make a case either way here, though; we should have a pretty good matchup in store. That said, The Raiders had a 5-1 stretch going prior to the Cleveland State loss on Friday. the Raiders have scored 68 or more points in 14 straight games and should post a solid total here as well. The Mastodons managed an 88-80 road win back on January 19 at Nutter Center the last time these teams met up, thanks to a 51-35 first half. Wright State will need to get off to a much better start in this rematch, but I think they’re up for the challenge.
