North Texas went 11-3 over their first 14 games, losing to only Saint Mary’s, UNCW and FAU along the way. The Green hit a 4-1 stretch over the next five games with wins over Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech and FIU.
On Thursday versus Rice, North Texas was up 31-28 at the break. The Mean Green were outscored 44-29 in the second half and ended up falling 72-60. Tylor Perry was the leading team scorer on 18 points.
UAB Blazers
Over on the Blazers’ side, they started out at 12-2 with losses to Toledo and West Virginia. The Blazers have gone 1-4 since then with losses to Florida Atlantic, FIU, Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee.
Matched up against Middle Tennessee, the Blazers scored 31 in the first half, 35 in the second and seven in overtime during a tough loss 74-73. Trey Jemison was the top team scorer, doubling on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

I’m going to try UAB in this one. The Blazers are coming off a rough overtime loss to Middle Tennessee so they’ll have to shake that one off. That said, UAB has still played fairly well lately and they’ve hit 70 or more points in every game so far this year. North Texas can score pretty well themselves when the matchup is right, and I like a high total here. Ultimately I think UAB can power out the cover if they’re playing well. Should be a competitive matchup.
