The North Alabama Lions and the Ole Miss Rebels meet Tuesday in college basketball action from the Pavilion. North Alabama is 6-5 overall this season. The Lions lost to Colorado in their last game. As for Ole Miss, they’re 9-3 on the year. The Rebels beat Temple in their most recent outing. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
North Alabama went 4-1 over their first five games with a lone loss to MS Valley State. Since then it’s been a 2-4 run with losses to UCSB, Georgia Tech, Memphis and Colorado alongside wins over Morehead State and Alabama State.
In the Colorado matchup back on Thursday, the Lions were down 42-28 by halftime. North Alabama didn’t end up getting any closer in an 84-60 loss. KJ Johnson was the only double-digit team scorer with 16 points.
Over on the Ole Miss side, they won six straight games to kick off the year before a pair of losses to Oklahoma and Memphis. The Rebels would then beat Valparaiso, lose to UCF and beat Temple in the next trio.
On Saturday versus Temple, Ole Miss trailed 27-24 by the break. The Rebels outscored the Owls 39-28 in the second half and made the comeback win 63-55. Matthew Murrell led the team with 21 points and seven rebounds.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Ole Miss. The Rebels were pretty shaky for most of the game versus Temple, but to their credit Ole Miss was able to pull off the win. The Rebels notched 38.2 percent shooting in that one with a 46-34 rebounding advantage (14-9 offensive). Ole Miss has scored 63 points or fewer in four of their last five games, so they’ll want to get off to a good start in this one. As for North Alabama, they’ve hit 68 or more points in nine of their 11 games so far. I don’t think the Lions will be able to keep up with Ole Miss if the Rebels get going, though.
