Wright State took a tough 102-97 loss to Davidson in their opener, but quickly bounced back. The next four games were all wins 73-72 over Louisville, 80-71 over Bowling Green, 99-56 over Defiance and 7-61 over Abilene Christian.

On Tuesday versus UC Riverside, Wright State trailed by four points at halftime. The Raiders couldn’t bridge the gap and lost 70-65. Brandon Noel was the top scorer on the team with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Tim Finke added 13 points with eight boards.

Over on the Weber State side, they got off to a rough start this year. The lone win in the Wildcats’ first four games came courtesy of Western State. The other three were losses to Washington, Colorado State and UC Riverside.

Matched up against Abilene Christian on Tuesday, the Wildcats had a 40-40 tie going into the second half. Weber State hit a 37-27 run from there and won 77-67. Leading the way was Steven Verplancken with 19 points and one assist.

PICK: I might try Weber State in this one. The Wildcats had a great second half against Abilene Christian on Tuesday, shooting 47.1 percent from the floor and 23-of-25 (92 percent) from the line. The Wildcats also had 10 assists and a 32-22 rebounding advantage. It was the second-highest points total of the year for Weber State, and if they can keep the scoring going here they’ll be in good shape.

As for Wright State, they shot 41.4 percent from the field in their loss to UC Riverside. The Raiders were a sketchy 9-of-14 from the line and were out-rebounded 33-32. This should be another pretty close matchup.
