Eintracht Frankfurt and Marseille face off on Wednesday in a UEFA Champions League Group D showdown at Deutsche Bank Park.

When these two teams faced off on September 13th it was Eintracht Frankfurt that secured the 1-0 victory. Jesper Lindstrom scored in the 43rd minute, and that was the difference as Eintracht Frankfurt secured the victory. Marseille had 61 percent of the possession and four shots on target. Eintracht Frankfurt had 39 percent of the possession, but they had seven shots on goal.

Marseille comes into this game sitting in second place in the group having picked up six points. On October 12th they faced off against Sporting, and they were able to secure a 2-0 victory. They scored a goal in the 20th and 30th minute, and that was enough to secure the victory. They had 69 percent of the possession and five shots on target. On Saturday, they faced off against Lens, and they were defeated 1-0. Eric Bailly is dealing with a dead leg, and it’s unclear if he won’t be able to go in this game. If he can’t go, that is going to be a big loss for this team.

On the other side of this matchup is Eintracht Frankfurt, who sits in 4th place in the group having picked up four points. In the last Champions League game, they were beaten 3-2 by Tottenham Hotspur. Tuta picked up a red in the 59th minute, and he won’t be able to go in this game. On Saturday, in their Bundesliga game, they were able to secure a 3-1 victory. They only had 39 percent of the possession, but five shots on goal. Ansgar Knauff and Makoto Hasebe are both dealing with injuries, and they won’t be able to go in this game.

If Marseille wins this game, they are going to feel in great shape to advance to the next round, but I don’t think they are going to get that done. Frankfurt’s offense has been strong heading into this game, and they are going to run up the score here. Look for two or three goals to be scored here, and Eintracht Frankfurt are going to secure the victory.
