The Toledo Rockets and Central Michigan Chippewas clash Saturday in week 5 MAC college football action from the Glass Bowl. Central Michigan just finished a matchup versus Penn State. The Chippewas fell in a blowout there. As for Toledo, they played San Diego State over the weekend. In that one the Rockets lost by three points. Central Michigan had a tough matchup versus Oklahoma State in their opener, but they hung around in a 58-44 loss. The Chippewas lost again in game two versus South Alabama 38-24, but then got their first win of the year with a 41-0 blowout over Bucknell.

In the Penn State game, the Chippewas were down 21-14 by the break but didn’t score again in a 33-14 loss. QB Daniel Richardson finished with 235 yards, two scores and two picks. Lew Nichols added 67 rush yards on 13 carries.

Over on the Toledo side, they kicked things off versus LIU in a 37-0 blowout victory this year. The Rockets kept it rolling in game two versus UMass with a 55-10 win. Toledo took their first loss versus a tough Ohio State team in week three, falling 77-21.

In the San Diego State game, the Rockets couldn’t score until the final quarter in a tough 17-14 loss. QB DeQuan Finn finished with 240 yards, one TD and three picks. Jacquez Stuart added 14 carries for 54 yards, and DeMeer Blankumsee had eight catches for 112 yards.

PICK: I’m probably staying with Toledo but not going near this one. The Rockets had a weird game versus San Diego State over the weekend, giving up four turnovers in the close loss. Toledo managed 376 total yards however, with 5.1 yards per play and 24 first downs.

As for Central Michigan, they didn’t play too badly against a great Penn State team all things considered. The Chippewas should be able to stretch their legs on offense in this one, and I like it to be a higher-scoring outcome. Should be fun, but I think the Rockets can eke out the cover.
