The Temple Owls and Lafayette Leopards clash Saturday in week 2 college football action from Lincoln Financial Field.
The Lafayette Leopards will be looking to build on their 6-0 win over Sacred Heart in their season-opener. Ryan Schuster threw for 8 yards and a pair of interceptions on 8 of 17 passing while also rushing for 34 yards and the game’s lone touchdown. Jaden Sutton had a team-high 8 carries for 43 yards and Jamar Curtis had 22 rushing yards of his own. On defense, Saiku White had a team-high 12 tackles, including 9 solo tackles while Malik Hamm had 1.5 sacks and 3.5 TFLs. Marco Olivas also had a sack in the winning effort.
The Temple Owls will try to bounce back from an ugly 30-0 loss to Duke in their season opener last time out. D’Wan Mathis has thrown for 83 yards on 52.4% passing while Edward Saydee and Jakari Norwood have combined for 27 rushing yards this season. Jose Barbon leads the Owls’ receiving group with 5 grabs for 45 yards while Adonicas Sanders has 4 receptions for 39 yards this season. On defense, Layton Jordan and Jordan Magee each have a team-high 8 total tackles with Magee logging a team-high 5 solo tackles. Darian Varner also has a sack for Temple so far this season.
Lafayette is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Temple is 4-17 ATS in their last 21 games overall and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 home games while the under is 12-5 in their last 17 games in September.
I’m not sold on Lafayette as this Leopards group whatsoever, but if you feel the need to bet this one, it sure beats the alternative of laying any sort of points with an inept Temple team that just looked lost against Duke and almost looked like it was some of the players first time on a field ever. This is going to be an ugly game, that Temple may win, but I’m not taking a chance that they’ll cover. Give me the Leopards and the points.
